Starlite Motor Inn Absecon

DO NOT STAY HERE — SERIOUSLY If I could give the Starlight Motor Inn zero stars, I would. This was easily one of the nastiest hotel stays I’ve ever experienced, and I genuinely don’t understand how this place is allowed to operate. The room was filthy and smelled overwhelmingly like mold, mildew, cigarette smoke, and marijuana. There was trash throughout the room, weird stains everywhere, and the TV didn’t even work nor did the lamps which were missing shades. Lots of hair in the bed and bathroom. The entire place felt dirty and neglected from the moment I arrived. And the experience outside the room wasn’t any better. There were a lot of people hanging around outside smoking marijuana, which made the whole property feel uncomfortable and unsafe. This is absolutely NOT a family-friendly place and not somewhere I would feel comfortable bringing children or recommending to anyone traveling with their family. This wasn’t just an outdated hotel that needs some renovations. The cleanliness, smell, atmosphere, and overall condition were completely unacceptable. WARNING TO OTHER TRAVELERS: Stay somewhere else. Seriously. Don’t take the chance just because the price might look appealing. As for me, you couldn’t pay me to ever stay at the Starlight Motor Inn again. I would honestly rather sleep in my car. Save yourself the money, the stress, and the nightmare of a stay.

My fiancé and I recently stayed at the Starlite in Absecon for an extended stay of about 3 weeks. Our room was very clean, very comfortable and the motel itself it conveniently located near many stores and restaurants, and a very short drive to the Atlantic City Boardwalk and Casinos. The family that runs the motel are by far the friendliest and most helpful people that we have ever encountered in any hotel stay that we’ve ever had. If you are looking to visit the Absecon/Atlantic City local area, i highly recommend trying to book you stay at the Starlite as opposed to any other of the area motels.

The only good thing I can say is the staff was very nice. The room had an old, musty smell. I couldn't get comfortable because of that as well as having to kill bugs. I returned home with bites on my neck, arms and face. Being unfamiliar with the area, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I read some booking.com reviews but didn't figure it could be that bad but it was. I won't skimp next time and pay for a decent hotel. This place should be torn down and completely rebuilt. I went out and bought a an of Fabreze to try and freshen the air. What a horrible experience.
