Comfort Inn Brooklyn

Hotel was great but dealing with Choice Privileges was frustrating. We hadn't stayed in Comfort Inn for a while and after our recent stay, we called Choice Privileges and thought we were buying extra points and extension of existing points. However, the transaction was never done. During this call we were promised points for listening to a pitch. We never received the promised pints. There are plenty of other hotels in Brooklyn equally as nice so we're done with Comfort Inns and their rewards programs.

This hotel is strategic due to its proximity to NYC tube. That being said it's cheap and clean and this is always a plus. Breakfast is generous although its room is not. The Staff is always kind and helpful

The reception staff gave us the type of room that we had requested, a room on highest floor available at the end of the corridor and away from the lifts-elevators. Generally, the staff whom we encountered were courteous and helpful, though some lacked social skills. Unless you approached them, your existence was ignored, their eyes glued to their computer screens. Check all the photos on TripAdvisor, as they will give you an accurate idea of the motel, its rooms and features. Rooms with odd numbers face the front of the hotel and 38th street; quieter, even numbers face the back, overlooking the (limited) parking and rooftops, and give a view into the distance. Away from the elevators-lifts, rooms x02 are at the very end of the corridor, face the back, and also are farthest from the elevated Gowanus expressway. Rooms x01 are also at the very end, but face the front and the ramp off the expressway. Rooms x04 & x03 are also at the end but have a room on either side. Avoid the floor with the breakfast area as there will be a lot of people coming and going. As photos show, Queen rooms are adequately appointed but compact, suitable for sleeping, showering and securely leaving your luggage. The closet contained a room safe. The room had coffee-tea making facilities and a small, under-counter fridge. The mattress and pillows were comfortable and we slept well. Double-glazed windows minimized the entry of outside noise. The WiFi worked well. The bathroom included shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and solid soap, and had a wall-mounted hair dryer. The air conditioner and hot water worked well. Housekeeping was reliable and reasonably thorough. Breakfast was available on a cramped mezzanine level overlooking the lobby. At a peak time it was crowded, with inadequate space and insufficient tables and chairs. The food selection was basic and mainly comprised commercially made food products such as dry cereals and oatmeal, milk, waffles and syrup, meat patties and scrambled eggs, bagels and breads, butter, cream cheese, jams, peanut butter, muffins, donuts, apples, oranges and bananas, yogurts, fruit juice drinks, tea, coffee, sugar and artificial sweeteners. If you are coming by car along the elevated Gowanus Expressway I-278 from the direction of the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge, leave at exit 23, 38th St. which leads down a ramp past the front of the motel and on to 4th Avenue. To access the motel, you will have to drive around the block, so keep right, turn up 39th St. and turn down 38th St. The motel will be at your left. Free parking (available as you can find it) at the back of the hotel has nine spaces, but note that the entrance drive on the left side of the motel is very narrow. There are four front-end-in spaces at the front of the motel, one for the handicapped. There is legal, free parking on the street at the side of the exit ramp in front of the hotel: we found it easier and more convenient to park there. If you are coming by subway, the motel is conveniently only two and a bit blocks from the 36th street subway station.
