I requested a high room, as quiet as possible, and with working aircon. Not really a high bar to reach, but getting a room against the elevator on the fifth floor, with a locked aircon that only kicked in at 72f/22c to cool for 10 mins, then cut out… wasn’t good. Explaining to the staff that the reason, as stated on the booking form, was due to a medical condition, was met with a shrug and ‘the details weren’t passed through’. And their solution was an offer that they’d get me a taxi to another hotel, but no refund. Asking a different member of staff later on if there were notes for the room, and them reading them out to me proving they were there… not good. That I could touch both walls with my shoulders at the same time when I entered the bathroom also wasn’t good. TLDR; the rooms are tiny, overly hot and poor for the price, with staff that don’t care. Avoid.

The Lucerne is the perfect starting point each day, for walking trips through New York City! Breakfast at the amazing French Nice Matin (adjacent to the hotel at 15% off curtesy of the Lucerne) and then head off to the Historical Society Museum on Central Park West or walk through Central Park to take in the MET or Frick Museums and maybe a few galleries. End your day scouting out the best restaurant for the day on Amsterdam Avenue, (there are plenty to choose from for every palate) and finally fall happily exhausted onto your comfortable bed to rest and do it all again the next day!

I was very disappointed with our stay. It was a special night out for an anniversary celebration however our room was downgraded without our consent and were not given options.
