I try to give people the benefit of the doubt and I did that here but the Aventis doesn’t deserve it. We’ve stayed here for years when it was The passport inn. Granted, the previous owner was surly but at least an attempt was made to keep the rooms clean and well stocked. We checked in Friday night. Found the toilet lid on the floor next to the toilet, there were ants on the bedside table and flies. The pipes under the sink were dirty and looked moldy. The bathroom was dirty and there was no drain stopper in the bathtub so taking a bath wasn’t an option even if you wanted to. The bathroom floor was dirty, the tub was dirty. The mattress sloped on one side, I felt like I was going to fall out of bed all night. They use flat sheets as fitted sheets, would it kill them to invest in some real fitted sheets? The room we were in had not yet been renovated which wasn’t the end of the world but again, it wasn’t even clean. The kicker was that there was not even one extra roll of toilet paper so on Sunday morning when I had to go, I had to walk over to the office for more toilet paper but the office was locked at 8:30AM. So, having no other choice, used a wash cloth to wipe my butt. Gross I know but the other options were just as gross. This might be the first review I’ve ever left of a motel but the Adventist has earned every word. My recommendations are 1. Don’t stay here 2. Stay here If getting a cheap room is all you care about or 3. Stay here but bring your own toilet paper, sheets, bathtub plug and bug spray. Maybe they should divert some of the money used for renovations into basic necessities.

It could have been nice, if it was clean. Great location. The shower worked well but the water did not drain at all. I took shower after being at the beach but decided I'd rather wait to get home and shower than deal with this one again. Coffee machine didn't work. And when we wiped up water from the bathroom floor with a towel, the towel came up dirty which made me think the floors hadn't been washed. The bed was fairly comfortable but Im not sure the 'blanket' had been washed recently. The sheets were ok. I would not stay here again. The woman at the desk was very kind.

On a whim, we wanted a few days at the beach before going to a concert in New Jersey. This motel is right in the heart of Somers Point at the 9th street bridge leading to OCNJ. They had a room available at a reasonable price in July so we booked it. If you’re looking for a grandiose hotel with all the bells and whistles, this is not the place for you. This was a modest, clean motel where you can stay, get to the beach relatively quickly, and reach other points with no hassle. You can tell they are working on making improvements, the staff was friendly, and nice overall motel (being right across from the Crab Trap is a bonus), all without breaking the bank. Check out is automatic so you don’t have to stop at the front desk which makes your stay that much easier. If you’re looking to stay down at the shore for a reasonable price, definitely worth checking out.
