Santa Fe Motel and Inn

Quite charming but also a bit dated. Great bed, great breakfast, great location!

Overall, the hotel was ok, but there were a few things that made this stay less than optimal for me. On the positive, the bathroom and kitchen were clean, the towels were great and the TV remote was sanitized. The bathroom set up was the main problem. The area that was closed off behind a door included the shower and the toilet. The space in this area was very small and I found myself stepping into the shower to close the door to use the toilet. The sink area was open to the room and across from the door. This leaves you potentially exposed when trying to redress after a shower, which is what many will want to do since the floor space outside the shower is so small. The kitchenette had no useable counter space. The only counter space was occupied by all the coffee supplies. There is no closet. There was no outlet on one side of the bed. As with many hotels of this style, there was no elevator the second floor so be sure to ask for a first floor room when you reserve if you need it. I took a kleenex box with brown stains on the top and bottom that I found under the bathroom sink to the front desk for replacement. It was replaced but the receptionist was silent - no concern or apology. It's easy to forgive something like this, but some concern and courtesy would be appreciated. I see from the pictures and descriptions on the web site that there are a variety of room styles and possibly another style would have suited me better. (Ours had a walk in shower rather than a tub and the rooms with tubs look like they have larger bathrooms.) But it is hard to tell from the web site what type of bathroom you will get. I suspect the rooms without kitchenettes have bigger bathrooms. You may want to discuss details on the phone before booking.

Old-fashioned quality service, they really think of all the details to make sure you enjoy the stay. Beautiful property and great breakfast area. And located walking distance to downtown Santa Fe and the railroad district. The free parking almost is enough to justify the expense. ;) The rooms aren't shiny and new and are a bit dark, but this is overall a wonderful, warm experience and without hesitation it is the first place we'd look when we return to Santa Fe. Can not recommend enough.
