Holiday Inn Express Canandaigua By IHG

Great place. Staff is very nice. Rooms are clean

So, I stayed this past weekend at the Holiday Inn Express Canandaigua - Finger Lakes. We had a gig at the Farmington Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack. Even though the hotel is in Farmington I wanted to be close to Canandaigua. Admittedly I haven’t stayed at a Holiday Inn in a few years. I remember in the 70s and 80s people didn’t travel quite as far so the brand was always respected. Now they are part of the IHG collection of hotels which is a consortium of hotel chains. The area is convenient and there is a Wegmans across the street. You are also right near the mouth of Canandaigua Lake so that is nice. There is a lot of stores and restaurants nearby, so you have options. I checked in with no problems. There were enough carts for luggage, and the lobby was clean. The breakfast area is to the left and a lounge on the right. We were given RM 317 on the third-floor kitty corner to the Elevator band. Note that you may have to wait for an elevator as there is only one bank so if the facility is crowded it can be a while. It wasn’t really an inconvenience. The room was clean with two queen beds. It had a couch, microwave, and mini fridge. We had towels and the bathroom was spacious. The hotel has a deal with DOVE so a lot of dispensers with shampoo and body lotion by the shower and sink area which is very convenient. The beds were nice and seem to be the same brand the Marriot hotels are using. Our room looked over the front awning and parking lot. There is a small lake behind the hotel which I never knew was there. The hotel is clean, and I didn’t get to check out the pool and gym area. The unfortunate part of the stay was the volleyball team staying there. There was a tour bus in the driveway. When I see something like that it can be a red flag. I don’t fault the hotel, but they were a pain. I saw a bunch of sneaker boxes, door dash containers, and other trash outside of rooms a few doors down and I knew I was in for it. We only got continental breakfast on Friday morning. All the kids were down there and wiped everything out practically. I know they are between ages 18-20 but still having awareness of other people is important. The first night was loud. Doors slamming and loud talking down the halls, but I get it, I guess. Amber the manger text me the next morning to see how everything was going. I appreciate that type of follow through. Checking out was no problem and I feel bad for the staff. In this day of a shrinking workforce and not enough help I felt that bunch of kids were tough on them. I would stay here again and probably will this coming June.

I thought this place was a good hotel in which to spend the night. The rooms are really quiet, even the one we had which was adjacent to the elevator--which we never heard. The staff is extra friendly, and the breakfast makes for a good start to the day. Overall, it's a clean, quiet and good place to spend the night.
