Best Western Plus Cooperstown Inn And Suites

The room was clean and comfortable, and the large bathroom had a combination shower & bathtub, as well as a lockable door. The complimentary buffet breakfast had a large selection of food choices, included bacon & eggs, oatmeal, fruit and three "make-it-yourself" waffle makers. There was plenty of (free) parking available.

DO NOT STAY HERE!! The employees are rude and careless!! We stayed there for our sons wedding. The day of the wedding they shut the water off while my husband was mid shower and wouldn’t turn it back on so he could rinse off!! I called the front desk. I was told they “scheduled” the water to be shut off after check out (good idea). But they never told the guests that we’re not checking out the water was going to be shut off!! The front desks exact response was “what do you want us to do? Call all the guests?” My response was if you could “schedule” the water shut for after checkout then you would have had time to place signs in the breakfast area, or on the elevator door and even yes, call the guests that did not check out. They were horribly rude and careless. It’s too bad this hotel has given me a bad feeling about Best Western. I will never choose a Best Western again. We have a local Best Western. I know several people that work there that would never treat guests the way this hotel treated us. I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND this hotel!!!! And this is only half of the story!!!!

My family's stay at this hotel on June 30-July 1, 2025 was nothing short of a nightmare. Upon checking in, we were first given a room that reeked so badly we had to request a change. Little did we know that would be the least of our problems. In the new room, my 10-year-old grandson, who is legally blind due to albinism, unknowingly came into contact with bedding visibly contaminated with blood. We only discovered the affected sheets and blanket after he had been playing on the bed, touching and potentially being exposed to someone else's blood. Due to his visual impairment, he had no way of knowing the danger he was in. Shockingly, when we called housekeeping, they only tried to replace the visibly stained fitted sheet, leaving the impacted top sheet, blanket, and mattress. I had to demand they change ALL the bedding to protect my grandson from potential bloodborne illnesses. Their lack of a proper biohazard protocol was appalling. The hotel severely downplayed the incident, offering a mere $100 off our $317 room charge. For five months, I attempted to resolve the issue, requesting a refund and compensation for clothing we had to discard due to cross-contamination. I made only two courteous calls to the General Manager, asking to discuss the incident and what steps they were taking to improve safety and training to prevent this from happening to another child. Instead of answering my concerns, the hotel BLOCKED my number. They dodged my questions about preventing future risks. They even contradicted their previous written promise of a refund when communicating with my credit card company. Shockingly, they falsely accused me of theft for requesting a chargeback, despite the fact that they had failed to address the blood contamination incident and had not provided the promised refund. During our stay, I noticed numerous other safety and cleanliness issues throughout the property. In the pool area, there was a constant, high-pitched noise that made it uncomfortable to stay there for any length of time. When I brought this to the staff's attention, they acknowledged it was a known issue at the time of my stay. Moreover, the beds were so high that I, as someone with bad knees, found it difficult and painful to climb in and out of bed. When I mentioned this to the staff, I was told that the hotel had received numerous complaints about the bed height, but that it was the standard size for all Best Western hotels. I strongly caution anyone, especially the elderly or those with mobility issues, to be aware of this potential problem before booking a room at a Best Western. As a grandparent, I was outraged by the hotel's dismissive, uncaring conduct after exposing a disabled child to potential harm. Their customer service is abhorrent, and their safety standards dangerously lax. A hotel that blocks a family seeking answers about a severe contamination incident and then falsely accuses them of theft for requesting a justified refund clearly does not prioritize guest welfare. While Cooperstown is a lovely destination, and the Baseball Hall of Fame a must-see, I cannot recommend this hotel, especially to those with children, disabilities, or mobility concerns. The string of safety failures we encountered, along with the hotel's dishonest, unconcerned response to our valid complaint, their disregard for accessibility issues, and their baseless accusation of theft, should alarm any traveler.
