Hyatt Place Garden City

My stay was satisfactory, though I would have preferred a room on a higher floor. The hotel has a wonderful atmosphere. Overall, I found the hotel to be excellent.

The sheets , mattresses and room furniture had a foul odor. Disgusting.

Very Disappointing Experience – Poor Housekeeping and Customer Service I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Hyatt Place Garden City. I have stayed at Hyatt properties before, but I never expected this level of service from a Hyatt hotel. When I arrived at my room at night, the beds had not been made, the room had not been serviced, and the towels were wet. I called the front desk around 11:30 PM to report the situation and explained that my room had not been cleaned and that the towels were wet. I was told that they apparently did not know the room needed service and that, if I needed fresh towels, I would have to come down to the front desk myself to get them. I went down to the lobby and spoke directly with the manager. She showed me the hotel’s logbook, and I could actually see that my request for housekeeping had been written down. So the hotel knew about my request, yet the service was never done. I explained to the manager that I should not have to leave my room late at night and go to the lobby to pick up towels. I was paying for a hotel room and basic housekeeping service. I was not asking for anything special or unreasonable—just the basic service that should be provided to a paying guest. Unfortunately, the manager’s response was essentially that there was no housekeeping service available at that time and that I would have to get the towels myself. That was extremely disappointing. The breakfast was also very poor. The food was bland and had almost no flavor. Even the bacon was plain and disappointing. For the price of the hotel, I expected much better quality. On top of that, guests have to pay an additional $11 per day for parking at the hotel. Considering the poor housekeeping, poor customer service, disappointing breakfast, and additional parking fee, I honestly do not feel that this hotel provides good value. This was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have had. I never expected this type of service from Hyatt. If I had known beforehand that the housekeeping and customer service would be like this, I would have stayed at another hotel. Poor service, poor housekeeping, disappointing breakfast, and an unnecessary parking charge. I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience.
