Oakfield Hotel & Suites, Ascend Hotel Collection

We thoroughly enjoyed the stay and was more than satisfied with the treatment received. The location was great, the staff was helpful, the amenities were good and the hotel itself was very nice.

Oakfield hotel is a scam in every way. It cannot be a legally run hotel. Their so-called fitness room is so small that you’ll hit your head on ceiling if you attempted to use the treadmill. Their hot water works half the time. They advertise a continental breakfast on their website, but all there is is cereal bars, packaged mini-muffins, and unripe fruit. There is no staff on site all night and through the morning, and infrequently during the day. I checked in just before 10:00pm, which is apparently when hotel staff leave for the night. I rushed to the chipotle next door that closes at 10:00 before entering my room. When I tried to enter, my keycard didn’t work. I waited at the front desk because they had put out a sign saying, “We’re currently away from the front desk assisting other guests. Your patience is appreciated, we’ll return shortly.” This is a lie. After waiting 10-15 minutes, I called the hotel, and the person who picked up said he would be “right there.” Another 30 minutes passed and I tried to call back to get an eta but no one picked up. Finally, about 50 minutes later, someone showed up to fix my key card. He was rude and never apologized. When I said that I had never heard of a hotel not having staff on site over night he said, “It’s really more of a bed and breakfast.” Which is strange because they call themselves a hotel (and suites), and because they don’t offer a breakfast. (What they call their “sunrise cafe, coffee, and snacks” on their website is also their “Complimentary continental breakfast with every room,” even though they list them as two separate amenities, much like they list, “Front desk lobby” and “community welcome lobby” as two separate things, although you can see in the picture they are the same. My key card stopped working a second time during my 48-hour stay, fortunately during employee hours, and when someone eventually spotted me at the front desk they said my key card had been deleted from the system. Everything, the bathrooms, the sinks, the rooms, are miniaturized. They cut corners everywhere. My room was never cleaned. If you click the trip advisor link on their website it takes you to the (better equipped, better reviewed) Radisson down the road. They brand themselves as a boutique hotel but they are worse than a motel 6. Stay anywhere else in Rochester but here.

Oakfield is a great place to stay. It is always clean, peaceful and I feel safe when staying there. The staff are always welcoming and professional.
