Gideon Putnam Resort And Spa

You can not find a better place in Saratoga for peace and quiet

For the amount of money that a room cost us I feel the service level could have been much better. Being charged an amenity fee, we were blocked out of the parking lot (due to an event the next day?) upon returning at 11 pm after a wedding . Very disappointed in the thin towels, iron that was retracting the cord when we used it and needed replacement, poor lighting in the room for reading in bed and my biggest upset was to not find two bottles of Saratoga Spring water in our room on arrival! I conveyed my disappointments via text to whomever was texting me. I hope that was forwarded to management but I think not as no one has reached out. The positives: I love the history of the building, the original painted murals in dining rooms, the location in the park, and the room was updated and clean. Housekeeping responded to my requests for a new iron and thicker towels. Restaurant for lunch was great, Breakfast buffet was good but Prefer a menu offering cooked to order. Also the waitress said no Green tea and gave me mint but clearly had it because it was on your complimentary coffee bar! Zen Organic Green Tea.....We did not get a chance to use the pool but did the mineral baths and spa which was excellent!

The hotel is a throwback classic old style hotel very nice charm but the rooms and other areas show some wear and age. We went for a Luke Bryan concert and stayed the night and had dinner. They have nice bar and restaurant. We had chicken marsala and chicken cheesesteak the food was good. They also give chips as a free appetizer these were amazing. The hotel is nice but I think overpriced believe we payed $700 for 1 night. Pros - Friendly helpful staff - Perfect location for the SPAC concert - Nice charm all around the hotel - Free coffee in am - Shuttle service to track worked out great even on Traverse day the busiest day of the year. - Restaurant and bar in hotel -Small gym Cons -Bathrooms in rooms show age they are clean but dated - Rooms are noisy you can hear every door open and close - Ac unit very loud Turing on and off all night - Expensive
