Durham Skyland Magnuson Hotel

I take pride in my reviews and feel this is one that's necessary. I did set up my travel plans for here, slightly concerned with the negative cleanliness comments and all I really needed was a clean room and freezer. I prayed. I have been well traveled for decades and can tell you that for the price point and what I got, it was equal. I did get into one of the renovated rooms so it was pretty clean. Few negative things: walls are thin, it didn't have soap for my hands (or shower if you needed) but I had that with me so I didn't really care. This non smoking king room didn't have a small coffee maker and I had to take a total of a 15 minute drive to get a cup of coffee. It's all small easy things to fix. I paid a *total" of $66 for the room. All I wanted was a clean bed and space. I got a brand new shower which was lovely. The bed is modern looking, the sheets were comfortable cotton. My only issue is I felt like I was sleeping on a crib. The plastic mattress pad liner on this bed was ridiculous for grown adult. Every time I moved all I heard was plastic crinkling. I'm sure the mattress is old, nonetheless it wasn't very comfortable. The cotton sheets were very comfortable for the breathability. I don't think that for what I paid, this hotel is was unfair. The person who checked me in was excellent and overall feel like I would be back to this place knowing what I do.

Got the room over a (name your own price/discount website) HORRIBLE, shouldn't have booked that way and then ... it couldn't have been worse as I got a smooking room (me having asthma) and they simply claimed I had booked it (complete lie). they charge a ridiculous security deposit and the room is already beaten up.

DONT KNOW WHERE to start, just a s**t show , SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE, pay a little more and don't fall for the low rates, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, I have been across the country on road trips few times over and have never seen a place run like this one, front desk personal showed up in their under ware looks like a hatband and wife screaming at each other and than at the guests !
