Fairfield Mountain Resort

Very difficult to review this location because I have to talk out of both side of my mouth. The resort itself was excellent with great amenities and even better staff. I can certainly see why it's considered a Gold Crown 'resort.' The accommodations, however, were sadly lacking. They were obviously in need of renovation and showing signs of use; which I can understand and accept. However, there were cobwebs everywhere, AC grates were filthy and we had to kill at least one large cockroach per day inside the unit. Yes, we're in the woods so bugs exist, but when you can't be comfortable going to bed at night.... In short, we left to come home early.

Clean and quiet location good experience will return

This resort was a great place to stay, with clean, comfortable, updated furnishings and a good location in the NC mountains. Although Lake Lure is not available due to Hurricane Helene damage, the area still offers opportunities for entertainment. The staff is helpful and friendly, and the resort offers discounts on activities in the area.
