Really disappointing La Quinta Inn stay due to a sketchy location, poorly-upkept facility, and uncomfortable room. I thought this would be convenient to the CLE airport but it was not worth trying; it's in a sketchy side area by a bus depot and a freeway. Check-in was not easy from a shuttle that only comes on the half-hour and a front desk attendant who was taking calls while trying to check me into my room.
The room felt unclean, with a unwieldy desk chair, floors that didn't seem clean, a noisy air conditioner unit that smelled musty, and a bureau desk drawer that would mysteriously open. The shower was adequate but it left a pool of water in the center of the bathtub after a shower. Breakfast was a mass of people and very disorganized, with sad eggs and sausage. And the gym was so unusable that I ended up running around the neighborhood instead.

BEWARE if you will be using your hotel room to get ready for an event and plan on using a hair dryer.
1 hour after check in, I was charged a $400 fee for the smoking sensor being set off. Myself and two children were getting ready for a concert.
Staff told me numerous times that only smoke can set that off, and that nothing else can do that. Accusing me of smoking or using a candle in the room.
Hotel cannot remove charges, pointed to a useless customer service line.
The owner of the hotel is a company called Highgate, and a representative from there let me know that hair-dryers CAN AND HAVE PREVIOUSLY set off smoking sensors. Highgate is working on reversing the charge.
The hotel is quick to charge and falsely accuse you, but don't know how to get the charges reversed apparently.
My advice - dry your hair in the car with the windows down? Or stay somewhere else if you intend on using the room for regular human activities

Had a Smoking fee of $500 on our bill. The front desk stated its a detector thats in the room that sent their system an alert. Clearly technology can sometimes malfunction especially when no one in the room is a smoker. The employees stated they cannot change the bill without their General manager Jason Petrich. I have left Jason 5 voicemails and have called hotel 8 times to try and reach him. He will not take phone calls or return them.
