Fairfield Inn by Marriott Dayton South

If you have a room that has everything that you need, congratulations. The reviews are accurate that this staff is just nonplussed and is doing what it needs to do and it’s not set up for success by the management here. My room was very damp, and the AC controls were not the best as you require required the use of a window box. The tiny little swimming pool is a replacement for what was the whirlpool? The gym has barely enough room to do a workout. And forget about breakfast. I went to McDonald’s.

The management staff at this property completely lacks the welcoming, hospitable tone that guests expect from the Marriott brand. Instead of standard hospitality, I experienced an openly unwelcoming attitude and a total absence of decent human interaction. The hostile environment created by the leadership team is alarming and falls drastically short of Marriott’s core service standards.

Hotels that are part of the Marriott family can usually be counted on for quality and service, no matter what the brand. Fairfield is a more budget- friendly member of the Marriott chain, and the Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Dayton South checks most of the boxes of what I expect when I stay at one of these hotels. This hotel is located very close to Interstate 675, not far from the Dayton Mall. It’s a three- story hotel and generally quiet, making it easy to get a good night’s sleep without disturbance. They serve complimentary breakfast and the hotel does offer a few amenities, like an indoor pool and exercise room. The rooms are comfortable, and I like the different colored walls in the room, as they add personality to the space. My wife and I stayed here for two nights, and we liked the service and comfort. Our one complaint was that the staff failed to provide our room service after the first night. We didn’t have our do not disturb sign out, and we were gone early and returned to the room late. There shouldn’t have been any issues. I went to the front desk and asked why this happened, and the staff person agreed there was no good reason for my room getting skipped. However, no one offered to adjust the room price or anything else. They did offer to let us switch to a different room, but I told them it was too late and we were too tired to move. Other than that, we did find the Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Dayton South to be a comfortable place for a short stay. The parking lot is large, the coffee is available around the clock, and the check- in and check- out were efficient. The mistake with room service convinces me to lower my rating a little, but other than that, this is a good place to stay in the south Dayton suburbs.
