The Country Inn of Lancaster

We were in seperate building and they didn’t have breakfast as promised! Said it was because not many was staying in second building, so what- we didn’t matter??!! Ridiculous. Also black mold in ac vents!!!

This was my second time staying the Country Inn of Lancaster, and it does have advantages like being close to the convention center in downtown Lancaster that I visited multiple times a day; a quiet location a bit away from the main highways, etc. The staff is young and polite, and though the buildings are old, they’re free of mould or dust. Plus, the surroundings are clean and well-kept. Will admit that the place has its own old-world charm. However, this also means that things break down and aren’t fully serviced. There aren’t enough elevators or elevator access to all rooms and buildings. Lugging a heavy suitcase up and down steep wooden staircases isn’t a joke. Some of the doors in the rooms have peeling and cracking wood (which may be a particular danger for those traveling with kids). The worst part is the complimentary breakfast. The offerings aren’t much, plus both the 1st and 2nd morning were disappointments—the toasters broke down and I had to heat my bread in the only microwave; the next day they completely ran out of bread and bagels although there was still a half hour to go before breakfast time ended. No real effort was made to find a replacement toaster or to source bread when they ran out (just bread from a local grocery store would’ve been sufficient). Also, they promise a late room service menu from their nearby sports bar and grill but don’t bother—that number is never answered. Go ahead and order food from your smartphone instead. Also keep in mind that the inn’s a big hit with families with small children so their noise from other rooms disturbs your peace. I see that management is in the process of building, renovating, and remodeling, so hopefully their appliances also get a refresh. As of now, not a great experience.

We’ve stayed here before, and it’s been overall okay. Unfortunately, the rooms seem like they’ve been getting a bit worse with each visit. On a positive note, we did have a few issues with our room, but the front desk employees, Nathan and Cohen, were incredibly friendly and helpful. They did everything they could to take care of the issues, especially since there wasn’t a maintenance person available. We really appreciated their willingness to try and help and their great customer service.
