Best Western - Parkway Center Inn

In May 2026. we booked a trip to Acadia National Park in Maine. This would kick off with our attending a Pittsburgh Steelers home game 9/27/26. Since we would be returning home through Pittsburgh, we decided to make reservations for both the football weekend and a weeknight approximately one week later, for our return trip at the same hotel. Unfortunately, we got a call while in Albany, NY, that our son, who had surgery a few days before we left, had complications and was being taken back into surgery. Knowing that the vacation was ruined since we wouldn't be thinking of anything but him, I spent that evening cancelling all our remaining reservations. The Bar Harbor Hotel was excellent; understanding, professional, and even offered sympathy for our plight. The Comfort Inn in Montpelier, VT, was like was easy to deal with and cancelled us at no charge. The Hampton Inn in Geneseo, NY, was also happy to accommodate our cancellation. The Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Greentree, where we had stayed just a few nights before (as well as several times over the years) was not. Perhaps the other hotels had me conditioned to expect kindness and courtesy; Holiday Inn provided neither. I was told the cancellation would be made but we would still be charged for one night. Since we were only staying one night, it made the whole thing moot. I pointed this out and was told it was "just our policy". Then I was told I would be transferred to someone else who wanted to "give me a gift" to celebrate being a loyalty member. That person then proceeded to not help with the cancellation, but tried to sell me a multi-day stay at a discount. So not only did they charge me for a reservation cancellation that I was already unhappy to make, they tried to extort more money from me, even after I told them I wasn't interested. Bottom line: Because "it's just our policy" took precedent over empathy for another human being in a bad situation, Holiday Inn has lost a loyalty member and generated this review. I hope everyone who reads this avoids the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Greentree PA. They do not care about you - they only want your money.

Our bed was peaks & valleys, so very uncomfortable. Room was dirty & unappealing. The only good thing is that it was convenient.

We weren’t impressed with this hotel. First the gps address takes you around and not directly to the hotel. Then we get there and absolutely no one was at the desk and we had to wait about 15 minutes before anyone came to check us in. The whole atmosphere of the hotel was very unfriendly. Not a good impression. Then the room was less than desirable. The worse thing was the bathroom. It was pretty gross. We were charged $831 for a 3 night stay. For that price I feel I could get a clean bathroom! Poor choice of a hotel - definitely should have picked a different one!
