Bay Willows Inn

I should have trusted the one bad review who said this place was a dump. But more people said it was nice for the price. And Newport on Labor Day weekend is so pricey. but........ Our room was so rundown and scuzzy. The smell of bleach was somewhat comforting given the stained 50's shag carpet. They said they didn't have any other rooms, and I thought I could stand it for one night. But when I turned down the bedspread and saw the stains I had to leave. The "Inn" won't refund our money even though we didn't stay the night. We left at 7:30 pm and drove home.

Interesting – I would have just driven by if judging by outside looks but I had booked a stay so in I went. I was greeted warmly and check in was smooth. I had received a call earlier if I wanted to upgrade to a suite for no extra charge, which of course I said yes. The suite was not what most would call a suite but it had another room with a couch (possible pull-out) , microwave and mini-fridge – no tv or anything else. The room was dated but clean and spacious. The a/c was a bit loud but that drowned out the local street traffic so ok. I was given a Welcome bag, which was a very nice treat – it included a couple snacks, water, fruit. Parking was right in front of the unit, which was nice. It is definitely dated and needs upgrades but met my needs for the night. Clean and safe are my priorities - basics met. Price was right and felt safe and welcomed. Would stay again.

I stayed here May 2019. I was having my floors refinished and needed a place that allowed dogs, and thought Id have a nice wknd of it. This place looks NOTHING like the photo on their website..that photo looks decades old. It is horribly run down..and NOT in a cute retro way. I felt like I was in a drug motel.. Between the partying, nonstop traffic to some specific rooms and the police cruisers in the parking lot..ugh. The doors arent secure, you can tell mine was either kicked in, or broken into more than once..the plate on the jam wouldnt even fit right. You can use the deadbolt from inside..but you wont get a key to lock it when you go out. No blinds on the big picture window..just sheers ????. Be careful, the tub has no grab bars, and I almost fell..the tub is super slippery. Theres no phone to call the front desk..but...theres a number on the front desk door to call????. The carpet feels wet and sticky..Id rather go shoeless outside. The pillows!!..they are filled with foam chunks????. Dont plan on much wifi..it barely worked. They should be ashamed of the furnishings, they are unmatching and super beat up..you would find better at the goodwill. I wanted to leave when the smell of marijuana in my room was intolerable, but it was dark, and honestly I was afraid to try and pack my car in the dark. By the looks of it, they have residents also..and sketchy looking would be putting it nicely.
