Admiral Fitzroy Inn

Good location in Newport for walking and restaurants. Continental breakfast.

We wanted to experience The Cliff Walk and Bowen's Wharf and all the splendor of a Spring Weekend in Newport and we just knew that The Admiral Fitzroy Inn would be the perfect place to stay. The free parking, although the directions say to turn before their sign, it is still a little tricky, but the parking lot is ample and so very convenient to the Inn itself. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable for a great night sleep. The breakfast was just charming. Very well attended, the coffee was hot and delicious, and so many options to choose from in the brightly lit room. Should we ever find ourselves back in Newport, The Admiral Fitzroy Inn will be the first place I look at

I think this was our fourth or fifth stay here, can't remember for sure. We stayed here back in August 2025 (I'm way behind on reviews). It has always been a good experience. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The location right on Thames St. can't be beat. You can pretty much walk to almost anything in the greater downtown Newport area. You also get a free off-street parking spot behind the building with your room which is totally clutch if you've ever been to Newport when it's busy, you know how important that is. We did not use our vehicle the whole time there except one day to drive out to Gooseberry Beach and back, we walked everywhere else. The breakfast in the morning is basic but very good. It was nice to have it right there and not have to venture out every morning for some breakfast. It's a good combination of price, location, and amenities, we can definitely recommend it.
