I spent one night here, and was treated to a nice, comfortable suite though I didn't know what room I was getting ahead of time. The Wi-Fi worked well and the breakfast was fairly good, though the eggs felt a bit frozen / reheated. The room was very clean although the carpet needed some cleaning in a spot.

We would strongly suggest avoiding this hotel and staying across the street at Home 2 Suites. Yes, it’s more expensive but the rooms at The Hampton are dirty and we found the front desk clerk very rude. We arrived around midnight, already checked in and had our mobile key. So it’s not like she had to do much for us. We found her in the main sitting area, shoes off, with the television on while she scrolled her phone. After a few attempts to get her attention, she was clearly annoyed with being bothered. Our room was missing a number of items (soap, coffee pot, hair dryer, etc..). We requested a bar of soap so we could wash our hand after using the bathroom. At first she argued that soap was in the shower in the pumps (it was not). Then she informed us that we would need to wait for housekeeping the next day because she was the only one there. We literally had to argue and insist that we would not leave the lobby until she gave us soap. It was absolutely ridiculous.

Just ok. The hotel could be cleaner, seemed a bit understaffed. If you have to stay in Smithfield for a night or two, guess it's ok but if you can, look at other towns or hotels in the area. Have stayed in other Hampton Inns that are much better, this one seemed a bit run down, especially for a hotel that is only about 10 (?) years old.
