The Inn at Thousand Oaks - Memphis

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I am absolutely shocked by the way this property handles guests’ personal and financial information. The staff demanded that I send highly sensitive personal data via regular email — including photos of my driver’s license and even my credit card. This is completely unacceptable and extremely unsafe. No reputable hotel should ever ask guests to transmit such information through unsecured channels. Even more concerning, they insisted on this instead of offering any legitimate or secure verification process. At around 10 PM, they were unable to process a card that was already properly linked in the official Choice Hotels app. Rather than fixing their own system issue, they pressured me to send confidential documents to a personal email address. This behavior raises serious concerns about data protection, privacy, and potential misuse of customer information. On top of that, the treatment of Choice Hotels loyalty members — including Titanium-level members — was disgraceful. There was zero recognition of status, no professionalism, and no attempt to provide appropriate service. I strongly warn others: do not stay here unless you are comfortable risking your personal and financial security. This place shows a complete lack of understanding of basic data protection standards and customer care.

I tried it out and was very nervous because I paid a very reasonable price. All things being equal disregarding seeing a baby Pitt bull come out of a room into the elevator and persons smoking outside with a wife beater and it reminds me of a casting call for Good Times. If we base it on the room alone and actually good TV options the was one of the best values ever had in a hotel. If you are looking for a nice room and plan to rest this place will not disappoint.

An embarrassment for Choice Hotels. I booked this Sleep Inn on the understanding that, for Choice Hotels, this is supposed to be one of their more luxurious brands, just one notch below Comfort Inn. But perhaps the clue that the management doesn't care was indicated by the sign at the front desk that said "Holiday Inn Express is not responbiel for your losses"--the location was purchased from Holiday Inn around six years ago. Our room was reasonably usable and sleep quality was good. But here's a list of what was wrong: Room maintenance: Furniture damages, drawers didn't close, odd drill holes Iron missing Microwave missing Phone missing buttons, no power cord, didn't work Comcast TV with no local channels--during weather warnings No hair dryer Toilet valve leaking badly Wifi fades from good to weak Public areas: Damaged furniture One elevator out of service Other elevator interior badly damaged and partially patched badly Room cleaning: No water or coffee cups, no coffee or tea supplies Mini shampoo and conditioner half used Unused Magnum condom in bedside drawer Food: No 24 hour coffee and tea service. "Hot" breakfast--no eggs of any style, no meats. Only hot options--waffle or toast--no peanut butter, no sugar free syrup, no bagels, no muffins, no yogurt, no oatmeal unless you wanted Quaker instant. 2 kinds of cold cereal. Rude to guests. Sign on the microwave in the breakfast area says "clean microwave after use"--hello, we don't have cleaning supplies. Staff seems put out at reasonable inquiries. The fish rots from the head down, and it's clear to me that the owner of this place is a cheapskate and a jerk. OK, if you want a place to sleep and a cold free breakfast, it might meet your needs. And I've actually experienced worse Choice hotels. But this one was exceptionally bad.
