Super 8 Monteagle

This place is run down and in poor condition. It is right off the exit and some of the buildings don't appear to be used and are boarded up. Another hotel right behind this one is boarded up and abandoned. The lobby is dirty and has plants all around it. It is in dire need of a good cleaning. Breakfast was to be served in this area, but I wouldn't eat anything in this location. Our first room was not very clean. The beds looked fine, but there was hair on the floor and on the tub in the bathroom. The drains were rusted and had been painted, but the paint was peeling. I was trying to just make it through the night as it was rather late-ish when we checked in, but a bug flew past my head and then my partner killed a roach. The roach put me over the edge. We packed up and went to the check-in desk. The lady refused to refund our money, but told us she would find us an acceptable room. She took us to the another building and the room was clean. This location is in very poor condition. Just outside our room, the stairway leading to the second floor was rusted out and part of it was torn down. There was debris under the stairway and the grass had not been mowed. I would recommend staying elsewhere.

After reading the reviews on TA, we thought it was going to be a nightmare. While the hotel wasn't great, it wasn't nearly as bad as we were expecting. The room and bathroom were fairly clean and there was no odor....and we were in a pet room. They were very accommodating with our dog which was appreciated. The lobby and the outside area of the hotel are bad. Clutter and mess everywhere.

Everyone at the hotel was friendly and helpful.
