DANCING BEAR LODGE

Our stay at the Dancing Bear was amazing! I cannot think of a better place to stay for the perfect getaway! From check in to check out, the amazing breakfast options, and how clean our cabin all these things made it a wonderful way to celebrate 33 years!!

Just short of being a great getaway. We visited this month for our anniversary and found a lot to like, but there are a few important details to know before booking. We stayed in Sugarlands 1, one of the “Villas” cabins. It was clean, well appointed, and set far enough from the road that noise was not noticeable. The king bed was excellent, and the kitchenette and indoor sitting area were very nice. However, the Villas are duplexes—not private, standalone cabins. Sugarlands 1 shares a wall and parking area with Sugarlands 2, which makes the website photos somewhat misleading. Unless you are renting both sides with family or friends, I would not recommend this style if privacy or a secluded cabin experience is important to you. Also, the hot tub takes up nearly all the back deck, leaving room for only two people to sit outside. If you prefer relaxing on a deck with forest views, ask whether the cabin has a hot tub before booking. For us, it was not something we wanted and limited the outdoor space. If you do choose a Villa, Sugarlands 1 is the better option. We saw Sugarlands 2, and it was much smaller, without a kitchenette or a comfortable sitting area. The staff and host were excellent, and the wooded, rustic property was pleasant to walk around. Breakfast at the café was included and very good, though not a reason alone to stay here. The on-site coffee shop was excellent, with great drinks and pastries, but hours were limited—as were those of most businesses on the property, which were generally closed after 6 p.m. and before 8 a.m. Overall, this is a very nice place for a getaway, but the Villa setup and price were disappointing for what we expected. I would have given it a 5 if the shared-cabin arrangement had been made clearer.

We spent 5 days at The Dancing Bear Lodge in Island Park Idaho, What a beautiful Cabin overlooking Island Park Reservoir. It was complete with everything needed from linens, towels, and all kitchen needs. It was immaculate, spacious and has a wrap around porch with outdoor propane grill and log furniture. There was five bedrooms, 3 baths and a loft with single bed. The main floor has a large living and kitchen-dining area plus an upstairs room-loft with sofa and TV, TV's in every bedroom as well. It was quiet in a gated community among other very nice homes. The value was excellent for the size of the Cabin For a group or large family.
