I was on two fantastic mini-biketours from my temporary home address in HoustonTX-USA; both focused on the Gulf of (¡MAGNIFICENT) MEXICO! My first biketour (three weeks ago, January2025) routed through AlvinTX > Galveston IslandTX > Jamaica BeachTX > Surfside TX > AngletonTX > Houston. Currently (15-24FEB2025), I am amidst my second biketour, which routed four times through Angleton, and have had the great opportunity to overnight at Americas Best Value Inn on two occasions. I am extremely grateful that I was lodged in a ground floor room both times—crucially important because my mode of transport is a recumbent CruzBike to which I’ve added a heavy duty 48V eSystem from eBikeKit.com. The weight of this “FrankenBike” precludes hefting it up or down many steps, so ground floor rooms are required. Not only was I assigned rooms accordingly, I really appreciate the fast hot water, mini-fridges, microwaves, and flat-screen televisions. It goes without saying that the free WiFi is extremely reliable. Additionally, the brekkie always has great coffee/juice/milk/dry cereal though I have missed fresh fruit. with a

Not accommodating at all, lied (in person) about having a roll-away bed to sleep on. We literally asked about the roll away bed before paying and was told that when the manager came in, they'd bring it to us. That never happened, and when we asked the manager, we were told they didn't and never have had roll away cots. No offer of a discount, no "we're sorry you were lied to", no anything. The Pool area was utterly dirty and nasty. The bottom of the pool had large pieces breaking off the bottom that you step on. Lights to the pool deck hanging down by wires exposed to the elements. Thousands of ants everywhere on the deck, the tables & chairs, you couldn't set anything down. The first room they assigned us to wasn't even clean from the previous people and had to walk back to the office and get another room. Whenever we rang the bell for service in the lobby, as no one was ever there, it would take them a long time to show up if they even did show up at all.

We had a spacious room with flat screen digital tv, satellite tv, a DVD player, a microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer, and mini fridge. We had plenty of room with our double beds. The AC worked great, the room was clearly recently painted in the past 6 months and had hard flooring, so no nasty carpet. Free breakfast included waffles, sausage and biscuits, pastries, cereals, and toast. We washed it down with OJ! The pool was smaller than we had hoped and is located at the front, road-facing portion of the hotel. There were only two umbrella tables, so not enough shade, but the kids still enjoyed the swimming! Overall, a good place to stay out of the main touristy stretches in Lake Jackson-Galveston areas. Surfside beach is only about 25 mins away, and Galveston Island is only about an hour!
