Amarillo Inn & Suites

Not my favorite hotel stay. It really looked promising, but it didn’t take long to figure out that it was a veneer: to seem rather than to be. Hospitality is just a watered down word. The facility seems clean and new. But it quickly became obvious that the franchise owners are interested in shaving every penny from their costs. To maximize profits, this is a dual-branded facility. Fairfield shares the facility with a Sheraton Four Points. That doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing. But it was terribly confusing start… Google Maps had a pathetic time getting us to the entrance. And the entrances did not have the usual awning you expect to drive under to check in. The signature Fairfield scent, usually delightfully inviting, overpowering, almost suffocating. Our room appeared clean. But upon further inspection, the carpet had crumbs and stains everywhere, including some that looked suspiciously like blood. The vanity material was quite attractive with sparkly specks. Oddly, you had to separately turn on the vanity light. Interestingly, the specks were easy to mistake for water droplets on the counter. Water pressure further demonstrated the owner’s avarice. The sink faucet had barely enough pressure to rinse the lather from my razor. The shower had sufficient pressure but nothing that said they were happy to have me as a guest. The shampoo and body wash, in the obligatory wall dispenser, seemed to be watered down, in another attempt at penny pinching. Similarly, the lotion seemed to have been used. The gym is in the Four Points section, and it was pretty-well maintained. Several cardio machines and free weights. Breakfast was disappointing at best. Watermelon was the best part. Boiled eggs were fine. The hot options were lukewarm at best. Nothing says hospitality like turkey sausahe and cold biscuits with cold, watered down gravy. The oatmeal seemed like watered down, instant oatmeal. I didn’t have the fresh made waffles. Coffee was lukewarm. The half and half seemed thin like skim milk. I am happy to move on.

We would definitely recommend this hotel with lovely big suite with larger mini frig than many. An environmentally friendly hotel using individual plastic silverware rather than wasteful packages (although metal silverware much-preferred) and in-room recycling bins. Appreciated hand sanitizer dispenser near the buffet area.

Arrived late but checked in quickly. Front desk young ladies were so friendly and fantastic both upon arrival and departure. Clean, Quiet, Comfy beds and Spotless Room. Great value for our family.
