Best Western Decatur Inn

Review. [ ] Almost all photos on the website are photoshopped. [ ] The room reaked of old stale bedding and cigarette smoke. [ ] The bed was dated, carpet trim on bottom falling off exposing bare wood frame. Mattress or frame is warped, my feet were several inches higher on that end.. [ ] There was a regular pillow and a small square one instead of 2 normal size pillows. [ ] Room was not organized so both sides of the bed had plugs, only one side had plugs for phone, etc.. [ ] Small refrigerator was unplugged when we checked in, we plugged it in, put food in it for after race day and the housekeepers unplugged it causing our food to be barely above room temperature and our drinks to be warm... [ ] Coffee maker is micro with no coffee packs, no filter, just the maker. [ ] New towels and washcloths that are brought in were supposed to be white were yellow tinted with stains, and we found hairs in the folded up wash clothes.. [ ] Toilet stays running all the time, after you flush the handle also stays down and has to be jiggled to reset. [ ] Toilet seat won't stay up [ ] Toilet seat is very loose or lost a bolt. [ ] Toilet paper is exactly that paper... The cheapest I've seen in a long time. [ ] Water pressure is so low we had to arch the sprayer to even get it to reach us so we didn't have to hug the wall. The temp changed on it every 2 or 3 min.. It almost burned my wife due to erratic changes.. [ ] Bathroom door barely closed and when it did you can barely get it open from the inside because it's jammed so bad.. [ ] The bath tub is horrible, 80 percent of the bottom of it looks like it was broken and filled with plaster then sealed with hand filled caulking. I stand on it and sink down in the patched area half an inch... Was afraid I was going to fall through. It's impossible to clean it with all the edges and creases.. [ ] The remote had no batteries, then I noticed it wasn't even for that TV. We went to try to get another one and the guy working at the counter tried to act like he doesn't have another one, I confirmed with him saying so we can't watch TV? He said he would bring us one to our room, 3 nights go by no remote, no TV... Went to look in the back of TV to see if there was an hdmi plug to maybe plug a laptop in and it looks like it was on fire at once. The Cable tip was broken off and just laying there. [ ] No batteries in smoke detector. [ ] Light fixture in bathroom is a shop light that is only held in by one screw, and only one bulb of 2 work. Over all I will never stay or recommended this motel!

I have stayed at this motel three times in three years. It's not new. It's not fancy. But it's clean and reasonably priced. The manager Melissa speaks English and she goes out of her way to make sure your stay is pleasant. This is everything I look for in overnight lodging. Clean bed, Clean shower, clean toilet. American hosts. That's 100% in my book.

I like this motel. i like Melissa, the manager. I was on my way to Texas from Ohio and called Melissa to make my reservations. Not one sentence into the conversation, I was disconnected. Four days and dozens of calls later, I could not get through. Every time I called, I got a recording that their voicemail was not setup. When I arrived in Decatur, I went into the office of the Scottish Inns and told Melissa's husband what happened and let him listen as I dialed their phone number again, so he could hear the message. Despite hearing for himself, he didn't believe me, so I stayed at La Quinta for two weeks. I would rather have spent my money at Scottish Inns.
