THis is a rather small hotel on the south side of HWY 277(aka Main St)which is in a zone with road construction under way.Immediately upon entering, the smell of moth balls.ammonia was overwhelming in the lobby. The owner was nice enough.WEw had a second floor room on the east side by the parking lot.The bed was adequate, but the mattress was very squeaky. The bath was adequate, though we didn't shower there. The room was clean, but the mini-fridge gasket fell off when I opened the door,so it was useless. The TV was a bit difficult to operate with 2 remotes. One for power and channel and the other for volume,if I recall correctly. This hotel cost almost as much as the La Quinta down the street on the opposite corner, but offered no food.It could be a bit better, but there is a lot of competition in Eagle Pass.We have never been to Piedras Negras, but have read that there are nice hotels there. The question there would be safety. At any rate,we have stayed at multiple hotels in this town and the La Quinta, for the price, seems better. There are newer, more upscale hotels just north of town for a higher cost.Additionally,we like air conditioners with constant fan selections. This unit did not have one,so we couldn't mask noises or sleep as well as we might have.If you go,stay upstairs and to the rear.

We have been staying here for years. Rooms are large, clean and comfortable. The owners are great, always friendly and helpful. A safe place, enough parking. About a 10 - 15 minute drive to casino. Rooms are always reasonably priced even on busy weekends and all other hotels in town are over priced!
