CHAPARRAL MOTEL

Was a pleasant surprise. Room was very clean and roomy. Gentleman that checked us in was a delight and he presented us with a wonderful snack bag that included 2 bottles of water. (Something you don't receive at the higher priced motels. Will definitely stay there again and have already recommended this place to friends.

Visited Hallettsville for a funeral in Yoakum. This is a great hotel tucked just outside of town. Ample parking. Room for your trailers and horses. Great continental breakfast. Staff is polite and attentive. I was impressed.

Giant sign outside: "Free Wi-Fi". Didn't work. Called the desk, "it's not working right now." Which isn't a deal breaker for me. BUT there is absolutely no reception inside the rooms. Again, isn't a huge deal...Normally. But I did need to communicate with work...had to drive down the road to get reception. The lobby had cobwebs all over the light fixtures. The bedspreads had holes in them. The sheets did seem clean. The beds were lumpy. The carpet felt tacky and almost damp...kept our shoes on the whole time. My husband and I laughed, we've stayed in worse, and it does what it's supposed to do, it's a bed and the air conditioner worked ha! My first choice was booked up, and we HAD to stay in town for our travel arrangements to work out the next day. If you have to stay, you'll live, but I suggest looking at the area's top rated lodging instead.
