DAYS INN HOUSTON HOBBY AIRPORT

I've stayed at this property about a dozen times during the past 3 years. It's a perfect location for me but it's poorly maintained, they have repeatedly included fraudulent double billing and refuse to cooperate with booking sites for invoices, receipts, etc. When my company or a travel service books here I can't get a receipt, not even after numerous attempts and speaking with management at the property, at IHG customer service (I'm a Diamond Elite member) and the booking agencies (Concur & Booking.com). I've TWICE been double billed for weeklong stays. It's nearly impossible to get a receipt from them, they don't answer their phone and they won't return messages. They don't report stays to IHG corporate so you don't get your member points and IHG can't help you with receipts. When I first stayed there they had just finished a "total remodel" but window shades were worn, torn and could not be properly/reliably opened or closed. The irons ironing boards are frequently inoperative or the irons are contaminated with something that makes the steam function stain clothes. They blame everything on booking services such as Concur & Booking.com. Booking, Etc. Booking.com is totally A.I.,you can't speak to a real person so that's useless. Concur is not much better. IHG corporate member services won't or can't help with any of this. There are plenty of other hotels in the area! Hilton, Marriott Bonvoy and Best Western are all better.

We needed accommodations that were close to Houston Hobby Airport and this location is very convenient to it. Check in was quick. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom included a large, walk-in shower & lighted mirror. The shower pressure was not great, but the water did get hot pretty quickly. My room was on the end farthest from the interstate and was very quiet. My coworkers room was close to the interstate and said that they could hear the traffic during the night. The breakfast had a variety of items, including eggs, sausage, cinnamon rolls, pancakes, and yogurt. It felt safe coming and going during the day, but I would be cautious at night. Even the hotel lobby locks its front door from midnight to 5am.

My main recommendation is to note that you need to call the hotel when you are at the airport pickup location to let them know you are there. The shuttle does not circle regularly as the website implies. The hotel has been renovated and there was clearly an effort made to freshen up everything, but some details just look covered over. The lighting in the room is dim and although clearly renovated, the whole bathroom counter was tilting down and sealants were all cracked. Our first floor room was noisy from the freeway. At breakfast, the coffee carafes were all empty and I had to search for the breakfast attendant to ask for more coffee. All in all, it is a bargain price and is satisfactory for this class of hotel but we have stayed at better quality HIE properties.
