Fairfield Inn by Marriott DFW Airport North

Friendly people but just kind of clueless. Hotel is clean but things are broken everywhere. The elevator light was burned out - got to ride in a pitch black elevator for the first time. The water "went down" an hour before I was checking out - so was delayed while they fixed that. Took a while and the water was really dirty while it flushed out. Glad I wasn't late for something. The hallway AC is broken - so like 90 degrees there. When discussing my issue with the water it was like "oh yes, the water is out." And...? Had problems at a previous stay as well, so it's not just a one-off.

…..you’re flying out of DFW, which I was not, as I found out the night before while attempting to book the shuttle for the next morning. Love Field isn’t far away, but I was hoping to avoid more ride-share costs. This appeared to be a recently built hotel. Everything was in good working order, except the lights were out on one elevator, though still operable. I particularly enjoyed the patio area in the rear. It was private and clean. The surprising feature was such a new hotel had a hot tub. They are very rare nowadays as many are being removed. The staff were all friendly and the room clean with a comfortable bed.

The staff at the hotel were kind and the room was nice, so it's sad that the hotel is receiving poor reviews due to the shuttle service ... but the shuttle is honestly terrible. We called the hotel at 10:40pm and received a text message that we were booked for an 11:30pm pick-up. The van finally arrived at 11:45pm and it was almost 12:30am by the time we go into our room due to the mobile key not working. The room was clean, the bed was comfy, the breakfast was not great. For a quick layover hotel I'd rate it as 'fine'. The following morning, we got the 8am shuttle and I was shocked it was on time because I saw it leaving at around 7:45am. We quickly realized that the reason it was back so quickly was due to how fast the driver drove. Holy crap! Several people put their seatbelts on and one person said to another "I sure hope this is the most exciting part of our travels today!" If there was open road, he was GUNNING IT. The shuttle van itself is also terrible. It seats 8, has zero headroom and the seats are very cramped. My husband (who is just 6' tall) had to bend in half to manage to get into a seat. The shocks are crap and you feel every bump in your bones. This hotel needs to invest in a) a better shuttle vehicle and b) a second shuttle vehicle to allow for more frequent airport pick-ups and drop offs. We would not consider this hotel for a future stay because of the quality of the shuttle service.
