We have been staying here off and on for 30 years. The experience with our room on July 2026 was terrible. The room was not clean, and appears to have never had any updates or upgrades . Our chargers fell out of the outlets, all the doors would not open or close properly. I was so disappointed and voiced tha to the front desk multiple times with no remedy. This is supposed to be an ocean front RESORT. The room was worse than staying at a motel 6. On a positive note the pools were very nice for the family.

I used to come here as a kid and had so many great memories! We’ve come the last six summers except last summer so we were so excited. Except when we got in for check in our room wasn’t ready and we didn’t get our room until a little over an hour after check in. The room wasn’t cleaned properly, there was mold on walls, baseboards, ac vents, and even in the washer machine. We requested by phone and app for two days in a row for more towels and that our trash was full and nobody ever came. The covered slide cut my daughter so it closed for one of the three days we were there and there was profanity and gross things written in the grime of the tile of pools. There were more drunk adults acting fools than kids and overall the trip was super disappointing. I was in room 5304. The beds were also extremely stiff and uncomfortable and the sofa smelled like urine. Unfortunately, this is our last time visiting here after this place was supposed to be our summer spot.

During the week of June 29 – July 3, our family of 4 took our LAST trip EVER to Port Royal! We have stayed multiple times over the last 20 years and this was hands down the worst vacation we have EVER taken. For reference, I have always booked our family vacations the last week in June-July 4th, at various costal destinations and we have NEVER encountered the issues we did this year! I’ve delayed writing this review in hopes of not letting my emotions interfere with the context. Having stayed with you in June 2024, we were well aware of the ongoing recovery and renovation efforts. However, we did not expect the property to be in significantly worse condition than before the renovations began. We encountered major issues across every aspect of our stay: • Property Neglect and Pest Infestation: The bug, ant, and mosquito situation on the property was completely out of control. This was a localized failure; we visited Port Aransas proper, the bird sanctuary, and the UT Marine Science Institute, and did not encounter a single mosquito. At Port Royal, walking from the garage to the room required heavy bug spray to avoid being swarmed. • Substandard Check-in & Room Conditions (Room 6213): The check-in office had no working A/C and only one operational computer, leaving arriving guests to wait in a sweltering room with fans just moving hot air. When we reached Room 6213, it was filthy, severely dated, and unkept. The patio blinds were broken, the kitchen and bathrooms were uncleaned, and the appliances desperately need replacing. • Lack of Security and Enforcement: o Our designated parking spot was taken by another guest. Front desk staff promised to contact the owner and call us with an update; that follow-up call never happened. o On two separate occasions, we found the security gate to the boardwalk deliberately propped open, posing a blatant security risk to everyone on the property. • The July 3rd Beach Takeover & Safety Crisis: Our most relaxing day turned into a safety nightmare near beach markers 67/70 around 5:00 PM. A massive group of youths took over the area, driving vehicles at high speeds dangerously close to the water’s edge where children were playing. My husband had to physically step in to wave traffic away from families before the police were called. When we returned at 10:00 PM, the situation had escalated to over 100 cars and rowdy behavior (which also explained the total lack of wildlife/ghost crabs). While we understand that the beach itself is public and under the jurisdiction of the City of Corpus Christi, Port Royal is not entirely absolved of accountability. The resort has a responsibility to secure its access points, protect its guests, and use its leverage to hold Nueces County and the City of Corpus Christi accountable for keeping those beaches safe. The primary reason families like ours have returned to Port Royal for nearly three decades is the pool and beach access. We discussed these severe issues at length with your staff during our stay, and the response was total apathy. That indifference spoke volumes. We have already booked our vacation for next year elsewhere in Port Aransas. Port Royal has officially lost a 20+ year loyal customer due to a total failure in property maintenance, guest safety, and basic customer service.
