Emily Morgan At The Alamo

The Emily Morgan is a nice hotel with a seriously impressive history, which is probably the main reason to stay here. Despite the remodel, though, the place still smells a little like it remembers the good old days. The room was cool and clean, but the bed? Apparently, comfort didn’t make the renovation budget. As for the ghosts, I didn’t see any. The truly frightening experience was ordering the $16 avocado cheesecake, only to watch it transform into a terrifying $19 after tax and tip. Thankfully, my $15 food-and-beverage credit helped bring the damage back to something resembling sanity. Traveler tip: Parking meters outside and down the street are free from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. The lot next to the hotel is about $35 overnight—still cheaper and less hassle than valet. The lack of a convenience store, overpriced food, uncomfortable bed, and the $300+ Iron Maiden night rate definitely put a dent in the experience. Apparently, history has a cover charge!

I went with my daughter for a paranormal fest that was happening in town, and we decided to book 2 nights at the Emily Morgan and add to the experience. We are very into the paranormal as we have a team, and a podcast. I personally was excited for the history just as much as the paranormal. First off, the staff of the hotel, and the valets was amazing! Everyone we encountered was very friendly, and knowledgeable . The room was great! the ac was nice and cool, which is a big deal in Texas !! The beds were so comfortable, and honestly I can't say anything bad about the stay. I would most definitely go back. As for strange happenings.......I was hoping for some in your face evidence! We didn't get anything too crazy, we stayed on the 7th floor, and our first night we stayed up pretty late and kept hearing the doors to other rooms opening and closing but there was never anyone in the hall, who knows maybe others were doing the same thing we were and just peeking out . We went to several other floors, like 14 and we went out to the landing before the stairwell, and took in the view, which was amazing. Interestingly the 14th floor smelled like old band aids, which we found fascinating especially after talking to some other people and hearing them say the same thing. I cant wait to go back! Maybe next time we will try to stay on the 14th floor!!!

We had the most amazing time! The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are gorgeous and so comfortable. The staff was phenomenal! Special shout out to Victor who absolutely made the experience for us! We can’t wait to come back!
