Extremely disappointing stay
$700 and three rooms later, still unacceptable
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this stay has been unacceptable from the beginning.
I checked into this hotel expecting a clean, comfortable room, especially considering I am paying nearly $700 for my stay through Wednesday. The first room I was given was clearly not properly cleaned or maintained. There were visible stains and marks on the furniture, stains on the mattress, debris and buildup throughout the room, and the showerhead was visibly dirty. I took photos because I honestly could not believe this was considered guest-ready.
I brought the issue to the front desk, and I want to be very clear that Jade at the front desk was the one bright spot in this entire experience. She was incredibly kind, professional, and accommodating. Although she was unable to offer a refund for my stay, she personally went to check another room for me. I was told the second room had been marked as clean, yet it was also clearly not up to an acceptable standard. Jade then went out of her way to locate a third room for me, which is ultimately where I am staying.
Unfortunately, the problems did not end there.
Now the entire hotel is without power. I was told that someone may have hit a transformer and that there is currently no power in the surrounding area. I understand that a power outage caused by an outside event may not be entirely within the hotel's control. What I do find unacceptable is that I am paying nearly $700 to stay here, I am here until Wednesday, there is no estimated restoration time, and I have not been offered a refund, relocation assistance, or any meaningful solution.
At this point, I've been moved through three rooms, dealt with cleanliness and maintenance issues, and am now sitting in a hotel without electricity wondering how long this is going to last.
I understand that unexpected things happen. What separates a good hotel from a bad one is how management handles those situations. Unfortunately, I have not seen that level of customer service here.
The only reason this review isn't even worse is because of Jade at the front desk. She genuinely tried to help and deserves recognition for that.
For what I'm paying, I expected a clean room, functioning basic amenities, and reasonable customer service when problems arose. Instead, I've spent my stay documenting issues, changing rooms, and now sitting without power.
I would not recommend staying here based on my experience. I will also no longer be booking this hotel for company stays for further trips. I have brought my concerns to manger Lisa who completely dismissed my concerns and walked away while pushing me off to April head of housekeeping. She was not only unprofessional but rude.

Beds were so comfortable, and room was lovely. Staff was very helpful and friendly, and the breakfast server, Debra, provided a delicious, hot breakfast, with everything freshly made and of exceptional quality. The breakfast goes until 10, which we appreciated as we were weary and needed to sleep in. Marriott properties are consistent in every way and this one is in a nice location, convenient to Waco but not in the fray, in the Woodway/Hewitt area. Recommend highly and will stay here again when we are in the area.

My children and grandchildren from Houston have stayed at this hotel near our home in Waco several times. The kids love the indoor pool and the waffles at the breakfast. There are lots of lovely, spacious areas inside the hotel to meet friends and a nice bar available for adult drinks. There is a covered outdoor patio with ceiling fans that are also nice places for conversations. The gorgeous Arboretum in Woodway is within a couple of miles. It is free and also has a splash pad and parkground for the kids. The hotel staff is very helpful. Everything is clean. It is a quiet location! Downtown Waco is only a few miles away to enjoy miles of Riverwalks, Art Center, Magnolia Market, Mayborn Museum, Baylor University events, restaurants, and more.
