Best Western Plus Historic Area Inn

New hotel with a stripped-down atmosphere. Room was comfortable and the beds were fine. Good location for all things Williamsburg. Only real negative was the variety and quality of the breakfast. Sub-Hampton Inn probably by design.

We recently stayed at Spark by Hilton Williamsburg for a couple of nights whilst on a trip to see the historical sites of the area. We were pleasantly surprised by this new hotel! The room we stayed in (on the 4th floor) was spacious and clean. We had two queen beds which were super comfy. The bathroom was big with a great walk in shower. The room also had a fridge and a microwave which was an added bonus. Although there were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room it was available in the lobby 24hrs a day. This just meant my husband had to go down and get me a cup of tea first thing in the morning! The hotel has a pool but this was not open during our stay. Breakfast was included in the room rate - this was a help yourself continental breakfast with bagels, muffins, cereal and juices. We ate at Jose Tequilas which is just next door (a walk across the car-park) - Fantastic Mexican food and delicious cocktails! The hotel is a 5 minute drive from Colonial Williamsburg. We would highly recommend this hotel.

I visited in April 2026. The hotel is relatively new and in good condition. The rooms are smartly designed that beats Moxy and others in same category. One is in space. There are actually shelves and hooks in order to unpack rather than live out of your suitcase. There was a musty smell both in the hall and in the room. This is expected for this area as Williamsburg is a high humidity environment. Once you turn down the air conditioner the smell went away after 3 hours. The halls remain musty as the air conditioning isn't strong enough. The room had a safe, microwave, and a refrigerator. The shower gel was empty upon arrival. The air conditioner is a bit noisy, but not over bearing. The parking lots are very well lit which was a great safety factor. There was 3 bus loads of kids that arrived same time. They had the whole floor above mine and the one above that. I was optimistic that I wasn't going to not sleep. However, the walls were thick enough that noise wasn't an issue. They were running up and down the halls till 9p, but curfew set in and all was quiet. The Continental Breakfast isn't the best, but for the price of the room, you can't expect too much. They had hard boiled eggs, dry cereal, apples and oranges, yogurt machine, blueberry muffins, and choice of bagels or English Muffins. Orange and Apple Juice was served with breakfast. Coffee is available 24/7, There is an indoor pool, a miniature golf course 1 block away, and Cracker Barrel and Golden Coral Buffet 2 blocks away. Staff was friendly and always attentive.
