Juan De Fuca Cottages

We truly enjoyed our four-day stay at these venerable cottages,. They are located high on the bluffs overlooking the Dungeness Spit and are uniquely Sequim. We stayed in #10; small, but comfortable and the best view around. When next we stay we'll try one of the fully equipped cabins. We loved watching ships transiting the strait and identifying the varied sea fowl of the area. The cottages own a bulkhead right on the water, where you can have a campfire and launch your kayaks out to the lighthouse....truly unique these days! The owners are attentive and the lodging well maintained. We loved our stay and hope to ne back soon!

We booked the Honeymoon Cottage for a couple of nights during our nature/birdwatching trip to Washington and Olympic National Park. Given the high price, we expected a much nicer experience. The cottage was clean and the check-in process was smooth, but the place itself was somewhat outdated (maybe purposely retro), the coffee-maker didn't work, and the bathroom had a musty, allergy-inducing odor. Although the location was across a street from the Strait of Juan de Fuca, the cottage sits in the middle of a mowed weedy field with not a patch of native vegetation. In all, this was an overpriced disappointment. They sent a follow-up message encouraging us to submit a public review only if we planned a 5 star rating; if we had a less than 5 star experience we were asked to contact them directly without the public review.

The cottages are in such a lovely location. I love walking in this area and visiting the nearby wildlife refuge. Peaceful, quiet and beautiful views. The staff is very helpful.
