BEST WESTERN VANCOUVER MALL DR. HOTEL & SUITES

Good location, clean hotel, comfortable beds, very good breakfast. There was a broken phone in our room, so to request bedding for the sofa bed one of us needed to go to the lobby to ask, and then carry it back to the room. The water pressure was not good at all on the top floor of this property, and while the website mentions that they offer shuttle service to the Portland airport by request, the shuttle that is available by request to the Portland airport does not run before 7am, so if you have to catch an early flight you can book an Uber for about $40.

My husband and I spent 2 nights here while in town visiting family and friends. We had previously stayed at the Best Western in SE Vancouver, but wanted a more central location, a decent nightly rate, free breakfast, and free parking. Many of the Vancouver hotels have now started charging for parking, even outside the city center, and don't offer breakfast. This hotel had plenty of parking spaces, and the area was well lit. It felt safe. The hotel grounds and interior are well cared for and attractive, and staff are friendly and helpful. Check in was smooth, although the front desk clerk did not offer the usual bottled water to us as Best Western rewards program members. I had to go back and ask for water. We also weren't told that there isn't daily housekeeping. The 4-story hotel only has a single elevator, which seemed odd for such a large facility, but fortunately the place wasn't crowded when we were there. Our "King Suite" room was spacious, attractive and clean. The sink and mirror area were separate from the toilet/tub with shower. The wifi was a bit slow, but worked, and the heating system was efficient. The room had a desk, couch, coffee table, small closet, microwave, small fridge, and coffee maker. I scored the hotel down a point mostly for the bed, which had 4 fairly flat pillows which needed replacing. The mattress was very firm, and the bedding consisted of 2 sheets...one under and one over a very thin quilted blanket. More substantial bedding would have been appreciated, especially during cold weather. We asked for a quiet room and were assigned one on the 4th floor down a hallway and away from the highway noise. For the most part it was quiet, although when people come and go you can hear the room doors slam. The free breakfast bar in the AM had a decent variety of cold and hot foods, including scrambled eggs and a meat each morning. There were fresh fruits, pastries, breads, a waffle maker, biscuits and gravy, cereals and a yogurt machine. I would have liked fresh oatmeal instead of instant, but otherwise it was a good selection. In the lobby there was a 24-hour coffee and tea service setup which was nice. We visit Vancouver several times each year and would stay here again due to the reasonable price, free breakfast and parking, and location.

The location is perfect for everything around the area. What really makes it great is it is close by the freeway, even though you are close the noise level isn’t a issue at all.
