Mediterraneo

This hotel is located very good. It is from 1986 and hardly ever given an overhaul. But it is clean,what you get for your money is ok. The staff is very friendly and helpful. So with the main shopping road and the old town both in walking distance it is a good place for a stopover in Montevideo.

Hotel Mediterraneo is located on a side street a few blocks North of Av 18 de Julio in the center of Montevideo. Free parking is a block away and there is a grocery store on the corner. The rooms were small but adequate. The buffet breakfast was good and the front desk people spoke English. It was a very easy walk to the attractions on the main street and we even walked to the Mercado del Puerto.

Stayed here for one night because the hotel offered parking. The parking was down the street and the parking attendants demanded your keys. The hotel claimed that this was a city rule. Three other parking garages in the area told us this was not a rule and that they did not need the keys. If you are traveling by private vehicle, you will be better off finding a cheaper hotel and pay for the parking yourself.
