Viewport Montevideo

We choose the hotel as it had very favorable reviews over 8.0, the photos looked good. The reviews suggested it was a good location and a value for money hotel. On arrival, the reception was small and cluttered with suitcases and building materials. The receptionist was however very pleasant and courteous. The room was on the second floor and clearly was a work in progress of being remodeled, floors, ceiling and bathroom facilities unfinished, holes in the ceiling and walls showing views into other rooms. The outside area was a work in progress with building materials and old mattresses, bedding and rubbish lay cluttered in the hallways. The Gym, Fitness areas were cluttered with building materials and could not be used, The breakfast area and kitchen appeared dirty after we explored the areas after check-in. After complaining we were offered an upgraded room at no charge and whilst the room was larger it was still a work in progress with ceilings and bathroom fittings not finished and the bed linen was dirty. We checked out !! We checked out and found another hotel close by with far better facilities at the same cost as ViewPort Hotel. We can NOT recommend this hotel

This hotel had well presented common areas within a beautiful old style building, however the individual rooms were bad. The furniture in our room was old and shabby, the mattresses didn’t fit the beds, the paint was stained and flaking and the bathroom wasn’t clean with old hairs on the floor and a dirty shower curtain. Our room certainly didn’t resemble the pictures we saw online - it was a much more tired version. What’s worse is that we paid almost half the price for much nicer accommodation elsewhere in Montevideo during our stay. The staff were friendly and the hotel is central but quiet at night especially for women walking home late. Overall I would say the hotel was acceptable as a 2 star but giving it a poor rating for a 3 star

Room service is really poor..wasn't really clean. There was an old smoke cigarette below the bed, Hair in the bathroom, and really bad smell in the room and the lobby. The guy in the reception had always bad mood, barely speaking when an information was requested to him. Breakfast was terrible, once i wanted to eat a fruit, i took an apple and was rotten. Location is good but gets dangerous after 8 pm, since is near the port. You pay what you get..is cheap but is not a luxury place to relax.
