Sand Castle On The Beach

We selected this hotel based upon favorable Trip Advisor reviews but weren’t quite sure what exactly we would find on arrival. However, we were happy to find that the favorable reviews were more than justified when were greeted with a charming property, friendly and helpful staff, an exceptionally clean and comfortable room, a beautiful beach within steps of our room, and everything we needed for a quiet and relaxing beach getaway. We had a second-story suite with a covered patio facing the water. It was the perfect place to drink coffee in the morning and unwind at night listening to the waves and feeling the salty sea breeze. Our suite had a kitchenette with everything we needed to keep snacks and drinks on hand and even cook a couple simple breakfasts for ourselves. (We rented a car and found a very well-stocked grocery store within about a 10-minute drive). The beach was quite literally steps from our door. There were plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas, with beachside service for delicious drinks and food. We dined at the restaurant twice and thought the food was delicious. Dining just feet from the sea at night was wonderful. One highlight was the guest laundry machines. It was so nice to be able to throw in a load of laundry at our convenience. We loved every minute of our stay at Sand Castle and look forward to returning someday.

We couldn't be happier that we chose Sand Castle on the Beach for our trip to St. Croix. From the moment we arrived at the hotel, we knew we made the right choice. Josh greeted us and showed us to our room explaining all of the important things we needed to know for our stay. The rooms were super clean. What we loved most about staying here is they thought of things that we didn't or weren't able to bring with us. For example, each room had a cooler that we could take out on the beach with us. Had actual plates and wine glasses, and two rum shooters in the welcome gift! The lobby had books you could read and vending machines with actual food! They even give you snorkeling equipment for the week. Each day when we arrived at the beach, we never waited more than a minute for someone to come unlock our chairs and bring us a table. The beach was never overly packed, and the water was amazing! The snorkeling was great as well. The café had diverse options which I loved because I'm not a sea food person. I would highly recommend the homemade hummus plate! If you stay in the garden area, the pool is clothing optional, and people DO take advantage of this. FYI! Finally, if you are not renting a car, request Darwin, 718-213-8164, as your taxi driver. He was fair, insightful, and honestly entertaining. Before we had Darwin, we were taken for $200 for one trip. Darwin is honest, and we wish we would have found him the first day! Sand Castle recommends him, so they'll know if you ask! Overall, fabulous trip. We would definitely stay here again.

This place is gorgeous—you can tell the owners really care about the details. The beach is incredible, and the pool and patio area are very nice. The food at the restaurant was excellent, as well as the service. It was a nice touch that Ted, one of the owners, personally walked around to greet everyone. ​There isn’t a fitness center, so if you like to work out, plan on doing beach runs or walks or swim or bringing your own workout bands, etc. ​Also, breakfast options are limited to continental. The restaurant opens for lunch at 11:00 a.m. ​We stayed in room 105, which has a kitchen, so my advice is to stop at a grocery store on your way in so you can stock up on some food items. ​Their website is excellent. It was nice to visit a different island.
