Daesco Hotel

I intentionally looked for very cheap accomodation in strategic location in Da Nang, and I chose Cherie. It was very strategic, across of Cathedral. I came to the hotel and anticipated for any surprise. The receptionist was friendly enough, the check-in was smooth. Got a little misunderstanding about my booking, but we managed to settle it. It was not a fancy hotel, I was a bit confused to find my room on the sixth floor. My room, which offered the river view from the balcony was a bit hidden. I got into my room and quite satisfied. I didn't expect anything fancy, I just needed a room to sleep. And I got more than what I expected. The room was spacious, with a living room and a balcony. The bathroom was just fine with a bathtub and other standard amenities; toothbrush, comb, vanity kits, shower gel, shampoo, handwash gel, hairdryer, two big towels, two small towels, and two bath robes. the main room had a television, electric water kettle (without tea set), and a refrigerator (which was not cool enough). The bed was kingsize, not that like in 5-star hotel but comfortable enough. The balcony was small but it was nice to sit there in the evening to enjoy the view of Han River in silence. The hotel and the room/furnitures looked old, but I didn't mind, I felt like staying in a local house in a rural area. Other good thing that really satisfied me as a single traveler was the free wifi. The connection was really good. I even still could access it sometimes from the Cathedral :) The housekeeping came to clean the room every day at around 7 a.m. they worked very fast. The receptionist girl, (if I am not mistaken, her name was Truong) was very informative and very helpful, even lent me her own umbrella when it was raining and I needed to go out (Thanks, Truong). I stayed there for 3 nights, the check out was also very easy. As easy as dropping the key. I thought they would need to check the room first since I did not deposit any money, the staff only asked if I consumed anything from the minibar, which I didn't.. In general I really enjoyed my stay in that old and humble hotel, where people treat me like family. Compared to the price and what I got, it was really a good deal.

The hotel it self is too old for operating, so dirty and feel scary on the hall. Stay away if you want to have nice memories. The only thing good about the hotel is it's location. But with that price you can even find many other better one.

Our first impression was very good. The hotel looked nice and clean.. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. the only good thing about this hotel is the location. Perfect for turists who wants to see Da Nang, and have everything near you. The hotel had a weird smell at most floors, the breakfast buffet was just a lousy try to make it look big, by having 3 dishes spread out on each table of four. When hot food was put at the table it would stay in room temperature (28 degrees) and not heated or kept cold as it should. No one in the staff we met were good enough at English to explain a problem to them. The walls were extremely thin, and there's nothing called silence here. The bathtub was leaking, and 1/3 of our laundry came back without even being clean. The receptionist wanted us to pay for everything, even the dirty clothes which we denied. She started yelling at us in Vietnamese and generally started behaving very unprofessionally. We are very disappointed in they way this hotel handled these situations. We will never come back, and won't most definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.
