DanaSea Hotel

Firstly I blame Hotels.com. They accepted my booking and promised me a double bed; non smoking room with breakfast. Danasea hotel should not be open to paying guests; they are patently unprepared having only recently taken over as ‘an investment’ property. My room was twin bedded not as promised. It smelled of smoke; see the attached photo for the reason! It was filthy; I don’t just mean dirty or unswept. Only two lights worked out of a possible eight! There was a kettle but no coffee/tea/cups. The receptionist had little English; luckily we could communicate using Thai as the boy was from Laos. He explained it was for Chinese and their noodles. Our first breakfast entailed a wait whilst a woman across the street was enrolled to cook two flat fried eggs in a disgusting sauce. The coffee was extra! In Vietnam, the home of good coffee! I expressed my dissatisfaction to Hotels.com in answer to a query as to my first impressions. I received a personal response from the management saying they would fix the problem. They did not. On my return nothing had been done to the room; bed unmade; floor unswept; no new toiletries! This was in a place where only two rooms were occupied. What had they been doing all day? Certainly they were not taking care of their only guests who had already reported them. Ten minutes later we left with them still holding our money for another two nights. We wiped our feet on the way out!

The hotel is located in a quite quiet area, alongside with the lack of entertainment. It takes nearly 10 mins to go to the beach by walking. The standard double room is small, old and untidy. The restroom is too narrow. My wife always complains about the hard bed. The wall is decorated with old and torn wallpaper. The worst thing in my trip is the broken air-conditioner. Water dropped from the air conditioner to the bed and made all pillows wet.

We booked two family rooms stated to sleep 5 people and were greeted with 2 3.4 size beds in each room. There is an awful damp problem with the mould clearly visible through the deteriorating wallpaper - most of which has peeled away. The smell of the damp hits you as soon as you enter the room. The bathrooms are actually pretty decent but house keeping don't replace your towels or provide more toilet roll, you have to request them from reception. I'm not sure what house keeping do! The breakfast is basic but ok and the beach is less than a 10 minute walk away.
