Bonjour Vietnam

The small 5 story hotel lacks only 2 things, a elevator and more options at breakfast. The beds and rooms are comfortable, the bathtubs are for Vietnamese sized people however. The breakfast was a kind of farmers omelette and was good. But we were there 3 night, we a trip between the 2nd & 3rd, and that was the standaard breakfast you got, with coffee or tea. So a choice or more options would be Nice, but for a few days this was good. We’ve had 3 different rooms, due to trips. While away overnight with a trip, we could leave our lugage behind the reception, and just get a new room when we got back (offcourse arranged prior to each trip). We also booked our trip to 2 day/1 night trip to Sapa here, and our trip to Halong Bay with La Paci Cruises (for those reviews look at other i’ve written). We got the trips for fair prices, and they were good. They also picked is up from the airport (Hanoi) after the long journey from The Netherlands. The manager Tam is helpfull and delightfull.

I was booked by travel agent into this hotel, didn't know what to expect really, room was smallish but comfortable for a single traveller, staff were very helpful even when I was offered an umbrella to go to dinner at a restaurant down the street, I said I didn't need one, the reception staff couldn't help a bit of a giggle when I came back soaked, the way it rained the umbrella was no use anyway. Breakfasts were very good, cooked as you ordered. The staff were very willing to assist in any way they could. I used the internet a couple of times, although I think it was a pirated version it worked ok for my simple needs. Everything in Hanoi is within walking distance of the hotel, most things anyway. Overall I found the hotel was just what I wanted. the first time I heard the street announcements and music it gave me a start but it does add to the atmosphere.

I stayed at this hotel for over 3 weeks and it was like home. I was able to do my shopping and sight seeing knowing that my personal belongings was safe. We took a trip to ha long bay and as a rookie mistake, I forgot my passport in the safety deposit box. I called the hotel and they were prompt with retrieving my passport and emailing the details to the ha long bay hotel. I felt at home with the staff and everyone was very friendly.
