Overall, a nice hotel with modern, clean facilities. The room was spotless and appeared to be quite new or recently renovated. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was excellent. The shower had good water pressure and was warm—while not very hot, it was perfectly adequate. One drawback was the room windows. Instead of facing outdoors, they overlooked the interior hallway, meaning anyone walking by could potentially see into the room unless the curtains were kept closed.

We were allocated Chalcedony Hotel Hanoi as part of a group tour and had been advised that it was a four-star property. Unfortunately, based on our experience, we found this to be quite misleading. In our opinion, the hotel is closer to a 2½-star standard than four stars. The hotel feels quite dated, with tired décor and old furniture that is showing its age. While the bed linen appeared clean, the overall condition and cleanliness of our rooms left a lot to be desired. We changed rooms twice in an attempt to find one that was both clean and had a properly functioning air conditioner. In one room, we discovered that the pillow beneath the pillowcase was heavily stained brown, which was unacceptable and left us feeling uncomfortable. Ultimately, we decided not to stay and moved to another hotel. To be fair, other members of our travel group stayed at the hotel and were satisfied with their rooms. This suggests there may be a significant difference in quality between rooms, and it’s possible that some have been renovated while others have not. If you do choose to stay here, I would strongly recommend requesting a renovated room. Overall, however, I believe there are much better accommodation options in Hanoi available for a similar price. Unless the hotel undergoes more extensive refurbishment or guarantees guests one of the updated rooms, I would choose to stay elsewhere.
