What started off as a good start to our stay here ended on a sour note. The staff seemed very friendly here and we had nice conversations with the owners. Upon check out they told us they offer a luggage storage service complimentary for hotel guests and since we were flying to another city within Asia, we decided to leave some luggage with the hotel and booked a room with anh Minh hotel on our return to HCMC. After we paid for our stay, the staff returned our passports.
When we returned to HCMC, we checked in and again the hotel took our passports and said they would get our luggage for us. We waited for two hours and realized the hotel called the Vietnamese police on us and claimed that we did not pay for our previous stay!!! The police asked us to show our proof of payment and we did not have our receipts. We couldn't even pull up our online banking info since the hotel insisted on us paying them CASH. In the end the hotel staff would not return our passports unless we repaid them. In hindsight, I should've called the American Embassy. After we forked out more money to pay for hotel, they gave back some of our luggage and some of the bags were missing! Had such a terrible experience there and checked into another hotel!!
Would never come back here again and plead others not to. This hotel gives Vietnam a bad rep! Corrupt staff!!!
