Ho Sen - Lotus Lake Hotel

Good location for a budget traveller. Just a walking distance to most of the place in district 1. Need to climb up a floor to enter for check-in, if you are in wheel chair or need assistance to walk up, I am not sure if there is any elevator in another entrance. Room is pretty old, furniture is old. Clock is not working. A/C is unstable cooling, and not fresh smell. Amenities are alright. I booked a cheap room, no windows. Breakfast is so so, if you can not wake up (6:30-9:30) you do not miss anything in your life, kind of that quality food. Staffs are average to poor in term of service, especially staffs at restsurant. I would like to address a lovely guy at housekeeping department, he made my stay better with his hospitality and service minded. I asked to change a pillow due to stinky smell, he brought a new pillow case, and changed the stuff inside. He worked with willingness and that impressed me very much. If Ho Sen hotel manager happens to read my comment, this housekeeping guy is a real gem at your hotel.

Second time staying here in past couple of years. Booked again due to location and cost. The rooms are basic. Large comfortable enough bed. Tired fixtures and fittings and decent air con. Make sure you book a room with a window. I made the mistake of not doing this first time round. It’s a dank hole with no natural light. The breakfast can only be described as a disgrace. Went down just after 8.30am on our first morning. Virtually only scraps left and nothing was refilled despite the guy working there checking- and more people came down after us looking for a feed. A coffee and a bit of toast was it for me. Also tried changing me for a beer on check out - I don’t use drinks from the fridge supplied by the hotel... and especially when there a circle store right across from the hotel with fridge loads of drinks at a third of the hotel prices. I don’t think I’d book for a third time despite the good location. Ho Sen just isn’t good enough and especially with so many hotels in District 1 to choose from.

Location is great but hotel needs some improvement. All furniture is old, breakfast not good, some staff really nice but lot of them looking not happy to see costumers, including the owner that every morning uses one table that should be for guests to take breakfast. Only one small lift.
