Bao Dai s Villas

Took a taxi from Nha Trang to view the Emperor's villa and found it closed. You can just glimpse the buildings from the road. Let's hope for a sympathetic restoration to its Imperial glory! The villas are a fair way out of town so transportation is needed.

went there today to look at the architecture and talk to reception about how to book a room because i couldn't find an online booking service. at the gate i asked the security guard if i have to pay money to get in when he replied no, i asked him if there is a hotel or temple when he also replied no. i also asked him if he could help me and his answer was no.i decided to have a look for myself because the security guard obviously didnt understand English or chinese. when i went in after 50meters or so another security guard stopped me, i then decided to turn around because it didnt look like im welcome at this hotel. after i turned around to go out the security guard at the 1st gate raised his hand in order to hit me, when i stopped he ran to me and took out something to hit me. i dont know how potential clients and tourists can be such a threat to a security guard. he couldn't help me at the gate and didnt want me to talk to reception. why did he feel to be so aggressive and use violence ? i wont suggest any tourist to go and visit this place because they obviously dont need tourist to visit when they chase you away like a homeless dog.

You can always tell when a hotel or entertainment venue is state owned. The service, food, furnishings and cleanliness are always a bit lacking. This place that is steeped in so much history is kept in such a sad state. It has the best location in Nha Trang and I can only imagine what private enterprise could do with it and still retain its charm. I've been told that the last Emperor, Bao Dai only stayed there one weekend a year. No wonder Ho Chi Minh gave him a offer he could not refuse.
