The castle building is in the style of Ryukyu architecture, which was the residence of King Choen during the Cho Dynasty. The Ryukyu Kingdom was a kingdom in southern Japan, near Taiwan, and was close to Chinese culture. The architecture of this castle was mostly influenced by China during the Ming Dynasty. In 1945 during World War II, when the Allied forces landed in Okinawa, the poison of war caused the castle to be almost completely destroyed. Only a few parts of the castle wall were left, only 20-30 centimeters above the ground. In 1992, Shurijo Castle was completely rebuilt with the original structure, based on old photographs, historical records, and memories of the residents in that area. In 1879, the castle was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with other ancient sites in Okinawa. The cave is cool all year round because the stream flows through the cracks in the rocks all the time. It creates a large stalactite and stalagmite phenomenon that covers a wide area. In addition, there is a clear stream flowing through which fish can live well. There are also shops selling local products or souvenirs, as well as restaurants. Then visit the GLASS FACTORY (about 20 minutes) located on the southern tip of Okinawa Island. This factory is the largest glass factory in Okinawa Prefecture. All glassware is made using traditional glassmaking techniques, without molding. It is brightly colored and made by skilled craftsmen. Watch glass craftsmen work on creating glassware that is created by each craftsman. Visit the glassware exhibition room and choose the glassware that you like. Then visit the UMIKAJI TERRACE (about 25 minutes), a new shopping mall built on a sloping hill on Senagajima Island. It is located just a few hundred meters from the runway of Naha Airport.
