Guided Sunset Tongariro Walk

This fantastic evening option is ideally suited for tour groups and individuals to maximize an allocated travel day to or from Tongariro National Park. This walk is also great for those who would like to experience the volcanic terrain but are not keen on the more strenuous full day treks while experiencing Tongariro National Park at this stunning time of day. The sunset tour is and easy 2 hours in amongst the Tongariro Volcanoes. We pick and chose the exact route to suit the level of ability for the group. The route is selected from one of the following: Either a 1 hour 20 minute return route out to our sunset ridge and back, a 2 hour walk along the Taranaki Falls track, or up to Meads wall on Mt. Ruapehu. No matter what tour we take we stop at the end to enjoy a glass of NZ wine as we watch the sun set. Your guide will talk about the area with his local knowledge of geology, volcanology and New Zealand cultural history. A stunning time of day with great sunset lighting in a majestic Alpine setting. If walking on a pathless track is too much for you then we can change the route to something easier.

* The journey will begin 2.5 hours before sunset and drop off 30 mins after sunset. Pick time up time will vary from 4:30pm onwards, due to the changing sunset time * Summer pick up will be approximately 7:00pm with drop off being around 9:00pm * Winter pick up will be approximately 4:30pm with drop off 3being around 6:30pm
