St Hotel

Not easy to find a hotel so well located and at a reasonable price, but just off the main street to make it a quieter venue. Friendly, helpful staff and comfortable rooms. Good option for a couple of nights in the city.

From the moment we got there it was problem after problem...wro g rooms, the after moving being given a room where the shower didn't work and when finally repaired the water just leaked.. The TV didn't work..and the staff totally unprofessional and not helpful at all...it was very disappointing to see..we noticed with their foreign business guests their demeanour was the opposite to how we were treated..never again..

This small but tall hotel is around the corner from a beautiful, trendy main drag and is surrounded by restaurants (great Palestinian one if you go to the main road and turn right). The concierge is super friendly. There's an elevator but only fits one person with a bag at a time. I was pleased with the bed, bathroom, AC and little deck and windows. I felt very safe (heck, you will feel safe in Algiers in general, they mostly hate Islamists as much as Westerners do). Here's the part that I will never forget. I got salmonella from a bad fish soup and my guide actually brought a doctor up to make a house call in my room. He did a full checkup and gave me meds and I was better in hours, able to get home. I will never forget the kindness of the Algerian people.
