A Hotel

This is a cautionary tale PLEASE READ! We booked this hotel through Booking.com after reading reviews that stated a great place to rest your head. We checked in and then within hours removed ourselves from our booking as the hotel is in desperate need of repairs, refresh, etc etc etc. we did not feel that the hotel equalled it's description at all, nor did we feel particularly safe. The only thing nice about this place was Cynthia the hotel clerk. The rooms were in terrible shape - dirty, cramped and judging by our thermostat and fire detector, probably not safe if there were a fire to break out, nor did our doors securly lock. Booking.com has been nothing but a series of phone calls and hang-ups on us to fix the situation. They want to charge us for the first night even though we didn't stay, the place was not as described AT ALL! We are not giving up in the fight with Booking.com (super bad customer service by the way - don't use them!). The hotel directly has tried to help us but ultimately our fight always brings us back to booking.com Either way, don't book this hotel - hostels in the area are nicer, and definitely do not use Booking.com for your travel plans!

French style building, very nice. It is safe to walk outside, and there are shops, bakeries, fruit shops and to eat. Nomas breakfast, I didn't have much choice

And the Recoleta district, a 10-minute walk from La Recoleta Cemetery, is where this hotel is located. The decor is very sober, uncosy really. The staff will help you but it simply does not feel heartfelt. (I had sent an email weeks in advance twice that was not answered. This could have been an indication) The hotel is staffed 24 hours. You can't operate the outside door yourself. We had room 32. The curtains were broken, everything was dated and it was dusty. The plumbing was adequate, but the jet of the shower was too loud and was difficult to operate. Breakfast was a travesty. A couple of toasted sandwiches with sweet and that was it. The breakfast room is not cozy. The only lady who worked there wasn't busy with guests. Then don't do breakfast! Despite being a busy street, it was quiet at night. The hotel is about 15 taxi-minutes from Palermo and 20 taxi-minutes to the other side San Telmo. I think there are better alternatives in Buenos Aires at that price. 56 points
