Mansion Dandi Royal

We stayed in a standard room for 2 weeks. The hotel staff was amazing, very helpful and always friendly. We enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to stay again. When we left we receive hugs and wishes for a return trip. No hotel chain can match the hospitality.

Not a very nice area, yet another beautiful old building falling apart in BA, you might think, until you open the door and are faced with a steep marble staircase opening onto a glass-domed entrance hall - 120 years old and magnificent as are the rest of the reception areas and landings. However. There are many dark and gloomy rooms without windows,several confusing staircases, two completely unrelated lifts, and the advertised rooftop pool and jacuzzi were without water, abandoned and dismal. Not for the visually or mobility challenged, or, probably, children - too many hazards. Breakfast in the dampish basement was uninspiring, there are ballrooms down there for tango lessons which might be fun if you are in a group or a couple. Good food store opposite but area rather smelly, with friendly drunks and dogs lurching around at night and an unfortunate smell of urine in the morning, not very classy but probably not dangerous either. Helpful reception staff.

It's not a very attactive barrio, and it's not a very attractive hotel - at first sight. But when you enter the hotel: woah. As if you'd become part of a movie, playing in Belle Epoque and featuring Tango. One important notice: Ask for a room with windows and space - there are some terrible rooms in this hotel. And one teardrop: The breakfast is poor. Not to forget: There are Tango-classes directly in the hotel almost every day - the breakfast-room is one of the dance-floors. Ask for Claudio, the Tango-teacher, he's the man. Last not least: The prices are not high.
